About
This blog is by an Estonian discovering her childhood dream country Canada. Based in Toronto, but sometimes traveling. Looking for an Estonian connection in the far away country and giving away tips about what to see, what to do, what to experience. Hence the name of the blog: Toronto. Canada. Estonia.

Midnite run & party vol. 2
After the check-in, we had another task, to get to different spots, where we had to guid the runners. Four people were taken to here and there. We met this couple, who were also volunteering and they shared a van ride with us. No chairs, just empty spot!
Midnite run & party vol. 1
I wanted to do volunteering and spend the last day of the year doing something interesting. Luckily there was a running event, which was looking for volunteers. I talked Evelyn to come with me and there we were - amongst all runners trying to find our way there.
First we checked-in participants and handed them their packages. We saw some cool runners, who have been creative to get their lights on.

Outside it was freezing
It was literally so cold outside, that the drinks were kept in front of the house. You can see how slow the vodka is running...prrr, freezing!
Pop-up wardrobe
Besides a great danse hall, the creative people were smart to create a pop-up wardrobe for all their guests. I have neve seen such great organizing while organizing a party - something for us to learn, eh?
Ktichen is the best place to hang out
It is amazing how kitchen look like during big parties - so many bottles, so muh food and all croded with people! :) Fun!
When workshop becomes a party venue
It is hard to believe that a workshop can make an excellent party venue, but this is what happened for the New Year's party at tghe workshop where the snowshoes were made not long ago. Just put the table away, add some lights and bring in a DJ - and the party is on!

Birdhouse
Today not so much of excitement by the birhouse where I encountered that lovely cardinal, but I saw my new friend nuthatch there.
By the river vol.2
Here is pictured the same shed, as few post before. You can clearly see that the light is not so attractive, as on the earlier one. See, light is everything in photography.
Nuthatch
During winter I really haven't had luck to encounter any animals nor birds, but I was happy to do so when I headed out for my daily photo walk. The bird I noticed looked a lot like a bird back at home -white wagtail. But the beak was a bit different and therefore I knew that this is a new species I ws just learning about.
This is a nuthatch.
A common feeder bird with clean black, gray, and white markings, White-breasted Nuthatches are active, agile little birds with an appetite for insects and large, meaty seeds. They get their common name from their habit of jamming large nuts and acorns into tree bark, then whacking them with their sharp bill to “hatch” out the seed from the inside. White-breasted Nuthatches may be small but their voices are loud, and often their insistent nasal yammering will lead you right to them.

River low-light
Here is another take of the river, which I visited earlier. This looks a bit better, but definitely doesn't show my strengths on using aperture. Hahaha. Anyway I hope it is going to be better in the future, but this leaves the shot still slightly likeable, right?
Winter still
I do not see much on this photo, but I like the untouched snow and the randomness of it all and the moving snow-plower on the background. What you think about it?
Christmas decorations
Did some long shutter speed photos while using small aperture. Look, how the Christmas lights are coming alive!

By the river
I really love this photo because of the inviting red light, which is glowing from the door window of a small cabin. Reflection adds also a lot to the shot.
The river doesn't look so exciting yet, so I think I have to come back a bit later to get better photos of it.
Cardinal
So my visit to the people's garden payed off - here you go a nice male cardinal portrait! What a beautiful and colorful bird it is!
Christmas tree
I have honestly no idea how I end up in the room of these people. I think I asked if I can take some photos in their garden, as I noticed some cardinals there, which are very good-looking on photos. I think they ended up asking me in to show their Christmas tree. Wow, look at those presents :D What a beautiful tree, I really lov it!
River falls
Love the river flowing while taking photos of it. It has been a great day for photography, hopefully there's more to discover.
Amazing art
Have forgotten the name of the guy who does these, but aren't these vases amazing? Pure wood, pure design, pure nature.
It is coming togeteher
Snowfall
Today has been very snowy and it is quite beautiful to admire this snowflakes from the window. On the background you can see a nice art created by Carolyn made out of tires! Amazing contrast!
Finally outside!
Snow stopped and all looks like winter wonderland now, so I am heading out to take photos. I leave you with this beautiful shot until the next week.
Hans showeling
Too snowy to be outside, so I am admiring the life outside. Hopefully later I can go out too to take photos!
Still
This time inside photo, almost from the same location as the other photo was taken. Winter life is happening indoors - look at the freshness and the color of this plant! Again some art created by Carolyn in the background - a tire frame mirror.

Main Street
Every little village has their own Main street, where all the main things as groceries, drugstore, restaurant, library, bank etc are happening! A look at a little Ontario village.
Winter landscape
Stream! Steam!
Love how you can put shutterspeed to work for your photography. The river got completely different look.
By the river
I went out for a walk to enjoy the winter and capture the beauty ot it. I found a busy river where to play around with the shutterspeed and therefore have some fun. Following posts show you more about what I saw.

Christmas Day dinner!
Table was festive and full of all kind of nice Christmas meals, of course vegetarian meals were offered as well. Blessed to be around these people during this very special time.
Merry Christmas!
