About

This blog is by an Estonian discovering her childhood dream country Canada. Based in Toronto, but sometimes traveling. Looking for an Estonian connection in the far away country and giving away tips about what to see, what to do, what to experience. Hence the name of the blog: Toronto. Canada. Estonia.

Pakistani cuisine

We were hungry after leaving the movies and stopped at this pretty sketchy Pakistani restaurant. I have always wanted to eat from metal trays, as in the movies, so this time I could do it. Food was excllent, but quite hot! Almost had tears, but I will never forget the rainbow of flavours this food had. I love it!

New year, new good food

Made this cabbage cury, which is excellent with basmati rice. Very excited about what new year has to offer on my plate ;)

Christmas Day dinner!

Table was festive and full of all kind of nice Christmas meals, of course vegetarian meals were offered as well. Blessed to be around these people during this very special time.

Merry Christmas!

I sent it, I made it!

I sent them a small package of puffed corn and other things, they still had the package left. So I made them my favorite Kass Arturr's cake. It takes three ingredients - puffed corn, toffee candies and some butter.

Great lunch!

This place is a heaven of good food - I especially love breakfasts, how great this huge toast looks like with a cup of hot chocolate! Yummy!

Christmas Day breakfast!

Love the mornings, here in the countryside!

Christmas Day breakfast with Eve!

Munching the best there is :)

Late night snacks

Cheryl, the woman, who gave us a ride, hosts sister, had made a nice cold casserole, which was a dipping dish, looked so wonderful, but tasted even better.

A small dinner before going to sleep, before an exciting day. All healthy good and all good...mmmm..

Egg-nogg

This is my first ever egg-nogg! I never knew what it is about, but apparently it is an excellent sweet Cristmas drink made of eggs and milk, main flavour comes from nutmeg...mmm...served with ice by fireplace...sounds great, isn't it?

Food from India

We got terribly hungry and had to stop at an Indian home-cooking place, which offered interesting variety of vegetarian food, though for some reason there was some meat in Evelyn's! The photo fools you, as there was actually so much food on the plate, and I think we couldn't even finish it.

Brunch at Coffee Time

We had a surprise brunch with Evelyn, as we wanted to eat something out, it was just one of those feelings, you know. Coffee Time again, this time an omelette sandwich and a huge bun. Took a photo with my phone next to it, to show how big it is!

Christmas dinner in Estonian House by Estonian House Cafe vol.2

Here is more of the event. By the way there was a chance to participate in a raffle and it  was possible to win some fancy fruit baskets. I hope these photos gave you a better overview of Estonian traditions even very far away from home. Happy Christmas!

Christmas dinner in Estonian House by Estonian House Cafe vol.1

I had a chance to take photos at an interesting event thrown by Estonian House Cafe. Its participants were mostly elderly Estonian descendants. They bought the entrance which allowed them to eat the best Estonian Christmas foods and listen to a singer who had come from Estonia, just for this event. Erich Krieger is quite famous singer in Estonia. I had a chance to meet him and even get his autograph. I will show that in some other post.

More to come....
